Dostoevsky’s ‘Brothers Karamazov’, Frazer’s ‘The Golden Bough’, Buddha’s Dhammapada, Ouspensky’s ‘Strange Life of Ivan Osokin’ and Mikhail Naimy’s ‘The Book of Mirdad’.

‘The Prophet’ by Khalil Gibran

What are your 5 favorite movies of all time?

Lars von Trier’s ‘Melancholia’ (2011), a masterpiece;Ron Fricke’s ‘Baraka’ (1992), for the soul-stirring depiction of the human condition; Woody Allan’s ‘Blue Jasmine’ (2013), because I simply love all his movies and I had to pick only one; Tarsem Singh’s ‘The Fall’ (2006), one of the most visually stunning movies ever created; Manoj Punj’s ‘Waris Shah: Ishq Daa Waaris’ (2006), for all its poetry, music and spirituality.

One Superpower you wish you had?

Superintelligence, provided that it is free of any artificial component.

‘Did you think it would end differently?’

If you had a time machine to take you back to any country and any time period, where would you choose to be for your childhood, adolosent , adult life and silver years?

I would chose to stay here and now - always. No period in human history has been entirely free from human suffering, violence and social injustice.

If you could acquire any talent, what would it be?

A gift for music

Which book you wish you had written ?

I admire many books, but I cannot envy an author or wish their work belonged to me.

When and where do you write ?

In solitude.

Silence or music?

I always write in silence.

One phrase that you use most often?

I am not completely aware of my idiolect. Perhaps pulling my first novel into a word cloud might reveal the answer to this question.

Do you have a writing ritual / superstition?

I do not discuss my concept/idea in its early stages of development.

What’s your guilty reading pleasure?

Osho. ‘Guilty’ only because I can spend days at a time reading his discourses, and use this as an excuse for procrastination.

Do you have one sentence of advice for new writers?

Read, think, and be sincere.

(Geneva, Switzerland), specializing in management of International Organizations; an MSc in Applied Mathematics,
and a Minor in Contemporary Asian Studies from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Lausanne (Lausanne,
Switzerland). She has comprehensive professional experience in the areas of international education, sustainability
and corporate social responsibility (CSR). Lidija has lived, studied and worked in Macedonia, Switzerland, Sweden,
Myanmar (Burma) and India. She is currently based in Bangalore.
