Hi, I am Jayanti. I was educated at Loreto House, Presidency College and Calcutta University. I am an Associate Professor of English Literature at South City College, Kolkata. My Novel "Yearning" was published by Writers' Workshop and nominated by the Publishers for the Commonwealth Prize for first time authors. The novel was accepted for distribution by the Ram Mohan Roy Library Foundation and sent to 125 Govt. libraries across India. My translation of Sahitya Academy Winner Bani Basu's Bengali novel, "The Enemy Within" was published by Orient Black Swan and got very good reviews. "Churning" was my book of short stories published by Leadstart. I have also edited a collection of essays on the multiculturalism of Shakespeare, published by Avenel Publishers funded by the UGC. I have written two other novels and am looking for suitable publishers. I also run a Medical Centre for slum dwellers. I would like to continue with my role as a social activist in the field of Education.
