Materialistic achievements don't amuse me much. Being called a good soul is what I am proud of.

High point of your life?

Release of my debut novel in September 2016.

Which living person do you most admire?

Sushmita Sen. She is the definition of modern day woman. She has been an inspiration ever since I was a teen.

Who is your favorite fictional hero?

Andy Dufrense from Shawshank Redemption.

Who are your favorite authors?

Khushwant Singh, Amrita Pritam amongst the Indians and Haruki Murakami and Mitch Albom.

What are your 5 favorite books of all time?

Tuesdays with Morrie, Kafka on the Shore, The Company of Women, The Book Thief and 50 Shades trilogy.

Is there a book you love to reread?

Yes, Tuesdays with Morrie. Whenever I am down and out, this book helps me get back to my feet.

What are your 5 favorite movies of all time?

Shawshank Redemption, Dil Chahta Hai, Umrao Jaan, Pursuit of Happiness and Anand.

One Superpower you wish you had?

Being a writer isn't enough? Haha!

Life is the most beautiful lie.

If you could acquire any talent, what would it be?

I want to learn to play the piano.

When and where do you write ?

Usually at my desk in my room and at times when I am bored, you can find me at cafes.

Ki fark painda hai!

Do you have a writing ritual / superstition?

No rituals, no superstitions. I am a very moody writer.

Do you have one sentence of advice for new writers?

Don't ape others' writing style, regime or ritual. Things work differently for different people. Keep improving your work. You don't need a pro to tell you that. You can judge it for yourself. Believe in yourself and your work.

Harleen Vij was born and brought up in Nagpur. She has an MBA in Marketing but gave up on her corporate career for the passion of writing. She loves writing poetry and does so in English, Hindi, Urdu, and Punjabi. She makes a living as a freelance content writer.
