I’m a bilingual award-winning poet, fictionist and critic. I have authored 34 books including two books of short stories and ten books of poems in English. I love reading and writing the most.

Three things people don’t know about you?

In this world I struggle to keep myself upright. I avoid telling lies as far as possible. I could not be honoured up to my real worth due to my opposition to nepotism, sycophancy and appeasement.

What’s your greatest fear?

Getting more and more alone as I am aging and the more I excel in my work the more I become a victim of jealousy.

Almost none.

The usual relationship between a man and a woman.

Do you have one sentence of advice for new writers?

Be honest to your inner urge, nothing should deter you from writing what you feel true. Fight for honest publishing of your labour.

Aju Mukhopadhyay is a bilingual poet, critic, essayist, biographer, feature and fiction writer. He has written 12 books in English and 12 in Bangla. He has five books of poems published in English and two in Bangla; three books of short stories in Bangla and one in English and a novel in English. Among his works, essays on Sri Aurobindo and the Mother deserve a special mention. He has written their biographies in English and Bangla. His forthcoming book is titled Sri Aurobindo: The Yogi of Divine Life. He was awarded the Certificate of Competence as a Published Writer by the Writers Bureau, Manchester, UK; Best Poet of the Year 2003 by the Poets International, Bangalore, India; and 2007 Editor's Choice Published Poet Award by the International Library of Poetry, USA. His poems are sometimes displayed at the top or among the first few in some websites like www.asianamericanpoetry.com and www.poetsindia.com.
