Born on 7 July 1955, Ajay Shukla finished his MA from Lucknow University and joined the Indian Railway Traffic Service in 1980. He held important positions during his career and won several awards as a Railway officer. He is well known in the field of theatre for the famous play Taj Mahal ka Tender. Some of his other published books are Philosophy of Bhagavada Gita, Four Lane Expressway to Stress Management and Happiness, Doosara Adhyaya and Taj Mahal ka Udghatan. He was awarded by the Sahitya Kala Parishad for Doosara Adhyaya and Mohan Rakesh Samman for Taj Mahal ka Tender. He has also been honoured with a National Award by All India Radio for his solitary radio play Ham Honge Kamyaab. Ajay Shukla retired from Indian Railways as Member Traffic, Railway Board (ex-officio Secretary to the Government of India) in 2015 and is presently settled in Lucknow.
