This fictionalized memoir is the story of a roller-coaster journey of an officer of Indian Railways. As he makes his way up the ranks of this formidable organization he is rattled by the complicated procedures of bureaucracy. He is pushed around by crazy politicians, and occasionally by corrupt, bosses. As he matures the bosses and the politicians have a hard time dealing with him. Gradually he comes to love this fascinating organization despite all its flaws. While being funny in a crazy sort of way, he also takes time to introspect about the meaning of life, and the mystery of destiny. That is what makes the book so interesting; the biting satire makes you choke with laughter, and at the same time the sublime philosophy makes you pensive.
