It’s not just a battle between good and bad it’s something more than that. Arjun Pawar’s Masters of Lygrenn will keep you hooked till the very last page where you will get the answers of all the questions. It is a MUST READ!

My Take:
Emperor Zakati is well known for his cruelty amongst his subjects. He considered himself to be the supreme power and treated his people with disrespect. He divided his people on the basis of wealth they possessed. He always thought that they were his puppets who would listen to his every order.
Emperor Zakati had a son named Xaviallo who was strictly against the ideologies of his father. He was against the injustice done by his father. One fine day, Xaviallo speaks his heart out. Emperor Zakati refuses to listen to his son. Xaviallo is firm on his decision. He asks for an army and announces that he wishes to have a kingdom of his own. Emperor is reluctant at first. He consults with his Master and ultimately gives in.
Xaviallo is accompanied by four of Emperor’s reliable Masters – Master Hamish, Kaalki, Rudra and Fire God. They start off at Kalahar and with their exceptional skills manage to bring many villages under Xaviallo’s rule. Xaviallo follows a simple mantra- do no injustice. Years roll on and Xaviallo makes himself so potential that people consider him as their messiah.
Life is not always a piece of cake. Hamish is secretly plotting a murder in order to become the king. He plans his actions and poisons King Xaviallo. Xaviallo dies and Marshell, Xaviallo’s son, declares himself as the king. Hamish’s plan is a success. He now plays with Marshell’s young mind to fulfill his wish.
Meanwhile, Fire God realises the evil plan in the minds of the Masters. He is bounded to his vow. He has already broken one and so cannot dare to break another. Will the boy who calls himself Arjuna and Fire God’s grandson manage to change Fire God’s way of thinking? Does Hamish emerge victorious?
Masters of Lygrenn is the debut of Arjun Pawar. I must say that he has done a commendable job. The narration style, the flow of the story and the crafting of the characters is impeccable. I wondered whether the story is really a fiction. Few years ago, I had read Mastani- a novel. The narration of Masters of Lygrenn reminded me of it. I had an awesome time reading it. I recommend this book to all mythology lovers. I canguarantee you an excellent read!
I rate:
Cover; 3/5
Story: 4/5
Characters: 4/5
My overall rating for Masters of Lygrenn is 4/5.

Review

As the title proposes, we run over the kingdom of Lygrenn and their government officials who need to be heartless and brutal for some time. They are inundated in conveying obliteration and decimation to the kingdom through different wrong practices. These things make Fire God stressed over his kingdom and his political perspectives thus he discovers a man named Arjun who might attempt to battle with the wrong ones and the story closes with the astonishment you didn’t expect of.

The author has made an extraordinary showing with his exploration and story abilities. These days, youthful ones don’t go for verifiable fictions yet Arjun has done that extraordinary employment thus as indicated by me it would be comprehensible for everybody who needs to peruse an option that is superior to anything regular sippy romance.

The book remains for something else, but the author still needs to work more inside and out with respect to research and some nonexistent viewpoints that would empower him to compose more appealing books.

BookRature recommends it strongly to the mystery and historical fiction lovers.

Review- Masters of Lygrenn is a historical fiction and a debut novel cannot be more better than this. Book Cover suggests about the genre and attracts the attention of the readers of all age. Blurb gives us hints about the story.
Personally i loved the conversation between Arjuna and the Witch of Oshah. Arjun has a great ability of story telling . Each and every situation is described perfectly and not in-a-detailed information about environment. For the readers who loves mytho-books, Master of Lygrenn is a must read.

Review: ‘Masters of Lygrenn’

AUTHOR:  Arjun Pawar

PUBLISHER: Frog Books

COST: 150 INR

VERDICT:

The book is a delightful read for every person who loves mythology. The two unexpected twists, in the end, made it more adorable for me. It’s an inspiring read for anyone who is looking for his identity.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR:

Masters of Leygrenn is Arjun Pawar’s debut novel. A Technical Engineer for a reputed construction company in Pune, he is currently pursuing PGDBA course in marketing from Symbiosis Centre for Distance Learning. His interests lie in reading novels, listening to music, sketching, traveling and trekking. His keen interest in mythology is the reason behind his marvelous book. Arjun also likes writing about issues related to society, politics and environment. His fans can get in touch with him via mail at ispeaktoarjun@gmail.com.

ABOUT THE BOOK:

The book is set around 1500-1400 BC in the hilly region of the Himalayas. The desire of a noble prince, to help a tribe who is not treated fairly, forces him to abandon his kingdom. The four Masters help him in restoration and development of the new kingdom. But Master Hamish has a bigger plan and he eventually kills the newly crowned king and tames his son according to his wishes. Amid this chaos created by Master, Hamish rises a boy who has no identity. He claims to have a relation with the Fire God. The boy’s attempt to bring justice to his people and avenge the death of his father creates a turmoil in Leygrenn which is already suffering due to Master Hamish. Will Fire God be able to bring order out of chaos? Will he be able to save his loved one without breaking his vows?

REVIEW:

Arjun has created a thrilling story with the help of his characters who possess supernatural powers. Undoubtedly Master Hamish and Fire God are the most powerful character in the entire novel until the boy comes into the plot. I don’t think it’s a good idea to disclose the name of the boy which itself has a small story behind it. The beauty of the story is that it captures the will and beliefs of an ordinary boy and, in the end, it teaches all of us something. The events turn in a way that readers are left anticipating. It’s great that Arjun has left the book on a cliffhanger, like me anyone who would read The Masters of Leygrenn would wait badly for its sequel.

DRAWBACK:

I think that Arjun could give a better start to the novel. In the first few chapters the story moves at a very slow pace, but more or less it is compensated by the thrilling unfolding of events later in the book.

Ratings-

Positives– The book is an adventurous ride to the mythological era. The author has taken us into the historical period and is successful in describing each and every detail  very clearly without losing the grip of story and making it interesting till the end. I liked the character of “fire God” very impressive as it seemed real to me. Also, in a time where we find piles of romance novels; i appreciate the author for selecting a different topic for writing his debut book.

Negatives– I wished if the author could have added few more chapters so that readers could explore more of historical and mythological era. Also, the cover could have been a little better than the present one.

Rating****

VerdictMasters of Lygrenn is a gripping mythological ride and after Amish Tripathi you must give Arjun Pawar to make his presence on the scene. The book is a joyful ride amidst fairies and demons.

ReviewThe cover of the book is apt and well describes the content of the book. The author has been successful in presenting most of his characters at depth, more specifically; the character of Arjuna, the witch of Oshah (I loved this magical character), King Marshell and Hamish etc. The description of the ‘Fire God’ is stupendous, making it alive. The innumerable logical twist hook the reader till the last.

DrawbackThe book was too small, i needed it to be more bigger so that i could experience war and history, not that i enjoy history but after reading this novel i felt that i have fallen for it. Thanks to the author, Arjun Pawar.

Title : Masters of Lygrenn

Blurb : “In an era dominated by the saints rises a Kingdom where sins are committed regularly. A Kingdom ruled by a noble King but misled by his cruel Masters. Hamish, the cruellest Master with a dream of conquering the world, faces a challenge from an ordinary boy, who in search of his answers finds the reason for his existence. Fire God, the most powerful and loyal Master of the King, is stuck in a dilemma of whether to support the good or the bad.

A story of brutal vengeance where there is no space for the good. Will the good rise to power?”

My View : The author kick starts the story with the introduction of  tribes known as Ucchastam, Madhyastam and Nichastam. The story revolves around the acquisition of the tribe,King, mantris and the usual drama such stories hold, fighting for the Kingdom, betrayal, game played by the clever minds, unveiling the facets and many more.

Author’s narrating style hints about his inclination towards such stories. He portrays the events in such a manner that each of them can be visualized with ease and  that too without any in-depth description of environment. But when it comes to romance and love, it seems animated and cannot be felt and lived with the characters.Although, the events of romance and love, appeared only once, that too doesn’t play a major play, but since it being a part of the story,I thought to mention this point.

Inauguration of the story is bit low and faded as it mostly involves description and characterization. The story climbs a level up when an unnamed character comes into picture, there begins the visit of thrill and excitement.Reader’s mind would jostle to hear about the upcoming events,as the story invites anxiety in reader’s mind.Author  has adopted a simple writing style to festoon his story and at the same time his words describes very-well of the conditions.

The events are quite fresh in nature and do justice with the theme chosen by the author. The flow of the story is maintained quite dexterously. The series of events offered to the reader one after another grasps reader’s attention progressively as they started to progress in the journey. The essence of the book envelops reader throughout the journey. Reader would feel his/her involvement in different episodes.

No event is stretched unnecessarily, he paused the events before it becomes boring or dull to the readers. He provides pause to the events with great ease and comfort and readers wouldn’t get slightest hint as when events are switching.

In between, some words are missing and misplaced, but that happened to notice at very few places, that’s why that doesn’t come as a hindrance in the reading journey. The story is so fast-paced in nature that it was hard to keep track of time.If the time has been mentioned (in years)before the beginning of the event, then it would have been more easy to sail and comprehend the scenes at proper time.

Through the story author also coveys a message to the readers. In his words

One should never stop dreaming, instead he should fight for it to achieve and never lose the self-belief in self.
